Local primary schools take part in QuadKids competition at Inspire

1 July 2019

On Friday 28th June we hosted one of our favourite sports events of the year with along with Ipswich & South Suffolk School Games. We were delighted to host this year QuadKids which is an U9 athletics event to over 400 Year 3 and 4 children from local primary schools.

QuadKids is an athletics competition which focuses on four core disciplines; running, throwing, jumping and sprinting each team scores point for each athlete in the event which then gives an overall winning team.

As part of the QuadKids competition, each school is allocated a country to represent in the competition. In the opening ceremony, it was great to see all the children getting the spirit of things with their face paint, costumes and waving their flags! It brought the field to life with the opening ceremony parade. Each school competed so well showing true sportsmanship and enthusiasm throughout the event. This year St Mary’s Woodbridge Primary School took first place overall, Ravenswood Primary School in second and Sproughton Church of England Primary School in third place. Well done to all of the schools involved!

Inspire and the Ipswich & South Suffolk School Games were supported on the day by the Sports Leaders from Westbourne Academy and Copleston High School. The event was also supported by our Inspire Coaches and Apprentices who helped all the children with the activities and handed out lots of energetic high fives throughout the day.

Sam Burman, Sports Development and Schools Partnership Officers at Inspire says: “It’s great to have hosted such a great event like QuadKids once again at Inspire! We witnessed a lot of enthusiasm from all the children and would like to thank everyone who was involved. We loved seeing over 400 children enjoying sport and putting their athletic skills to the test and it was a privilege to host with Ipswich & South Suffolk School Games!”
