As we celebrate Volunteers’ Week, we’re taking the opportunity to say thank you to the people who have rolled up their sleeves and supported Inspire over the past year.
Recently, teams from Sizewell C spent time volunteering at our Colville House site in Lowestoft, helping with decorating and refurbishment work. Across our sites, volunteers have supported with painting, maintenance and practical improvements that help keep our spaces welcoming, safe and ready for the young people who use them every day.
At first glance, a freshly painted wall or a refurbished room might not seem like a big deal. But for the young people who walk through our doors, the environment around them matters.
Many of the young people we support are navigating challenges around education, employment, wellbeing and confidence. Having spaces that feel cared for, positive and welcoming helps create an environment where they can focus on their future, build skills and access the support they need.
For charities like Inspire, volunteer support also makes a practical difference. Every hour spent helping to improve our buildings is time and money that can be directed back into supporting young people and delivering services across Suffolk.
That’s why partnerships with organisations like Sizewell C are so valuable. Their workforce has contributed almost 800 hours of volunteering across Suffolk over the past year, supporting local charities, schools and community organisations. More than 170 members of staff have taken part, giving their time and skills to make a difference in local communities.
What stands out most isn’t just the work that’s completed. It’s the willingness of people to give their time to support causes beyond their day jobs and invest in the communities around them.
Volunteering reminds us that creating positive futures for young people is something we all have a role in. Whether it’s mentoring, sharing expertise, helping maintain a community building or picking up a paintbrush, every contribution matters.
As Volunteers’ Week continues, we’d like to thank everyone who has supported Inspire through volunteering. The impact reaches far beyond the task itself. It helps us create spaces where young people can feel valued, supported and inspired to achieve their potential.
Because sometimes, creating positive futures starts with something as simple as people coming together to help.
The support we’ve received from volunteers reminds us that positive change happens when people invest their time, skills and energy into their communities. If you’d like to be part of that change, find out more about volunteering with Inspire at our volunteering page
