Rosie’s story

I felt a lot better about everything. I felt better about myself. Inspire will help you get through really, really tough times.

Rosie’s Story, before our wellbeing support

When Rosie came to us, life had been really tough. While her parents were splitting up, she saw things no child should ever have to see, including moments of domestic abuse that left her feeling scared, guilty and confused. At 11 years old, she was trying to make sense of memories that kept popping up.

Her family had been through a lot, and getting support felt like a big step. When they found our free wellbeing and counselling service, it gave Rosie something she hadn’t had for a while: a calm, safe place to talk about what had happened and how it made her feel.

Slowly, she started to open up. She learned that none of what she’d witnessed was her fault, and that her reactions were completely normal. Bit by bit, she began to feel lighter and look ahead instead of backwards.

These days, thanks to the support from our wellbeing service, she’s spending more time with friends, getting out of the house and actually looking forward to things. In a moment of real bravery, she said she wanted to share her story in the hope that it might encourage another young person to reach out for help too.

It was a nice warm, cosy space. We would talk about how I felt and what’s been going on lately. I felt a lot better about everything.
