Personal Development Coach (Mid Suffolk/Babergh)

  • Fixed-term contract for twelve months (from date of appointment)
  • 22.5 hours a week (must work a Wednesday)
  • £24,762 - £28,117

We are recruiting for a Personal Development Coach to cover the Mid Suffolk and Babergh area

We are looking for a Personal Development Coach to join Inspire’s Youth Employment Service (Thrive) team, supporting young people aged 16–24 who are not currently in education, employment or training.

These are young people who are often furthest from being EET-ready, and Thrive Coaches work intensively with them to build confidence, develop key skills, and support their progression into employment, education, or training.

At Inspire, we believe every young person deserves the opportunity to lead a confident and fulfilling life. Each year, we support thousands of young people by equipping them with the tools they need to succeed.

This role is central to delivering our mission. You will work one-to-one with young people, helping them explore their options for employment, education, or training. You will provide tailored information, advice, and guidance to address individual challenges and support them in achieving their aspirations. The role takes a holistic approach, ensuring each young person is engaged effectively and supported in a way that enables meaningful and sustained progression.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in delivering employability and skills training, and working with young people, who is motivated to make a meaningful difference.

To apply please send a CV and covering letter showing your experience and skills to meet the role requirements to Lauren Goulder, Personal Development Lead at laurgeng@inspirecharityuk.org

Closing date for applications is Friday,1st May 2026.

The Personal Development Service is a drop-in service for any young person (16 to 24 years) not engaged in education, employment or training (NEET).

The service provides information, advice, signposting and practical support for any young person seeking information on employment, education and progression routes to help them into paid work, work placements, employment, voluntary work (as a stepping stone into work and a way to get ‘work ready’), education, apprenticeships and/or training.

This role is specifically aimed at working with young people who are the furthest away from the labour market and the hardest to reach. The individual who is successful will be working closely alongside families, support networks and other agencies to engage with these young people and get them on the road to being ‘work ready’.

Driver’s license and car is essential.

Key objectives of the role

  • Project Co-ordination

Identify and engage young people from across the county to participate in the personal development service, utilising targeted outreach strategies and collaboration with local agencies and community partners.

  • Engagement and Participation

Develop and tailor support plans for participants, focusing on building essential employability skills, addressing barriers to engagement, and facilitating access to relevant education, training and job opportunities.

  • Collaboration

Collaborate with employers, FE partners, training providers and other stakeholders to create work placement opportunities, apprenticeships and training programmes tailored to the needs of the young people in contact with the programme.

  • Mentoring and Evaluation

Monitor and evaluate participant progress, programme effectiveness and outcomes using data driven insights to continuously improve services and ensure positive outcomes for participants.

  • Coaching and Mentoring

Provide 1-1 support and group workshops to equip participants with the necessary skills and confidence to enter employment, education or training successfully.
