Turn Up & Play Multisport

Free weekly sports sessions for School Years 1–6.

Try different sports, get moving and have fun with other children at our free Turn Up & Play Multisport sessions in Ipswich.

Taking place in our indoor Sports Dome, each week brings a mix of activities such as badminton, basketball, team games and more. Children can develop their skills with support from our friendly coaches and youth workers—but there’s no pressure to be brilliant at sport. Everyone is welcome to join in at their own level.

When and where?

Every Wednesday during term time
4pm–5pm
School Years 1–6
Inspire Ipswich, Lindbergh Road

Sessions are open to children of all genders and are completely free.

More than getting active

Playing sport is good for physical wellbeing, but children also learn plenty without it feeling like a lesson. Different activities help them practise:

  • Teamwork and cooperation
  • Coordination and movement
  • Communication
  • Problem-solving
  • Confidence and resilience

It’s also an opportunity to meet children from outside their usual circles and enjoy being part of a group. We welcome children from local schools as well as those who are home educated and looking for more ways to socialise, make connections and stay active.

Do we need to book?

No—just turn up and play. There’s no course to complete, no weekly commitment and no experience required.

What should children wear?

Children should wear comfortable clothes they can move around in and trainers suitable for indoor sport. We’ll provide the equipment needed for the session.

Turn up and Play takes place in the following locations:

Ipswich

Lindbergh Rd, Ipswich IP3 9QX, UK

Frequently asked questions

  • Do you need to book for Turn Up & Play?

Places no longer need to be pre-booked!

Primary school age sessions – Simply bring your child to the venue a few minutes before the start of the session. There will only be a short form to fill in the first time your child takes part.

Sessions for year 7 and older – When young people arrive for the first time, our youth workers will collect basic details in order to keep them safe during their first visit. They will then be given a letter for their parents or guardians and a link to a consent form. The consent form will then need to be completed by a parent or guardian before they return for their second visit.

  • What sports can I take part in at Turn Up and Play

We offer sessions targeted at specific sports, as well as multi sport sessions. Follow the above links above to find out what is on offer in your local community this term.

  • Can you help me make friends?
