Detached Youth Work

Taking youth work to the streets – meeting young people where they are, building trust, and creating safe spaces for growth.

Detached youth work is about stepping outside traditional settings and engaging with young people in the places they naturally spend time – streets, parks, estates and community spaces. Instead of expecting young people to come to us, we go to them, offering support, guidance and opportunities on their terms.

This approach builds trust and meaningful relationships, especially with those who may not access mainstream services. It gives young people a safe, approachable adult presence in their environment, someone who listens without judgement and encourages positive choices.

Detached youth work is vital because it reaches those most at risk of isolation, exclusion or negative influences. By being visible, consistent and approachable, we can connect, inspire and empower young people to discover their potential, feel part of their community and make decisions that shape brighter futures.
