Strictly Charity raises almost £5,000!

15 July 2016

Sponsored by Ryans

This weekend, ten amateur dancers took to the dance-floor for our ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ style fundraising event. We are delighted to announce that the event raised almost £5,000, with more funds expected over the next few weeks! It’s a 10 from us!

We have been running our ‘Strictly Charity’ event for three years now. This year’s event was kindly sponsored by Ryan’s. Thank you very much to the team at Ryan’s for their fantastic support of the event and well done to Nicci from Ryan’s for an amazing effort dancing in the competition.

We had 10 volunteers with little or no previous dance experience who bravely offered themselves to learn to dance in just 10 weeks with dancers from Ipswich School of Dancing. They performed a range of dazzling routines including jives, cha cha chas, waltzes, quicksteps and rumbas to name a few to a crowd of friends, family and charity supporters. We were stunned by the quality of the dances, what an achievement for all of the dancers to be proud of! Congratulations to you all!

We had the pleasure of having three well-known faces in the world of dance all with local links – Jeanette Siddall CBE, Brendan Keaney from Dance East and Emma Hawley from Ipswich School of Dancing.

We would like to thank all of the volunteers, dancers, guests and businesses who have supported the event, which in turn will help lots of young people through our charities important programmes.”
