Newmarket Team programme graduate with support from local organisations

14 August 2017

Our Newmarket Team programme have graduated from their 12-week Team programme with the support of The Racing Centre in Newmarket.

Team programme, which we run across the county, is free to take part in and delivers a Prince’s Trust employment qualification. The programme offers support to young people (16-25 years) who are not in education or employment – helping them to improve their confidence and move onto new opportunities through a variety of activities. Find out more here.

The team has been based at The Racing Centre for the past 12 weeks and have been very busy while using The Racing Centre venue! They have renovated the play area of Foley House Childrens’ Centre as part of their community project stage of the course, running activities with elderly visitors of the Newmarket Day Centre and have taken part in mock interviews with the team at Natwest.

Now that our young people have completed to programme, they plan to move onto jobs, apprenticeships and college courses to pursue their chosen career paths and we wish them the best of luck!

Paige who took part in our Newmarket Team programme says:

“Since starting Team, I’ve become a much stronger person and realised my problems don’t have to stop me from achieving.  I’m more confident within myself and my ambitions have increased because I now realise I have more skills and qualities than I thought.  After Team, I’m starting a Level 2 Children’s Play & Learning Development course at West Suffolk College. Eventually I want to work with children with disabilities.”

Inspire are very grateful of the support the centre has provided to our charity and our young people and look forward to working together again in the future. Terry Baxter, CEO of Inspire, says:

“We are extremely grateful to The Racing Centre for the generous support and enthusiasm shown towards our programme for local young people! Team programme is so beneficial for young people who need guidance onto the next steps in their lives, back into employment or education. We would like to thank everyone at The Racing Centre for the support that they have offered our Team members and staff during our programme!”

Tom Lee at The Racing Centre says:

“The Racing Centre is a Community Hub that offers a range of support services and development opportunities for Racing Staff and the wider community of Newmarket. The Inspire / Princes Trust Team have been a really fantastic group to have here at The Racing Centre and they have really thrived in our facility and it’s been a pleasure watching them on their journey throughout the course. We are very pleased to be able to support this initiative and look forward to working with both organisations on this and future projects.”
