Over in Leiston our young people who are taking part in our Prince’s Trust Team programme have been making a positive impact on their community by supporting Sizewell Hall Christian Conference Centre.
As part of the 12-week programme for 16-25 year olds, the team members are required to plan and complete a community project of their choice that will then benefit their local community in the future. This provides the participants an excellent opportunity to build news skills including leadership, communication and a fantastic project to add to their CV’s.
To fundraise for their project, they completed a bag pack at Tesco in Leiston and used the money raised to buy materials needed to complete their refurb at Sizewell Hall Christian Conference Centre. The young people decided to refurbish the footpath and woodland area at Sizewell Hall and started off by rebuilding the boarders of the footpath and relaying it with bark. They also added a bench that was donated from Coopers in Leiston and added some colour to the woodland walk by painting flower beds made of tyres and the wooden borders with bright coloured paint.
The group worked hard to refurb the area and were very proud of the work they completed for Sizewell Hall Christian Conference Centre who were extremely grateful for the hard work and time the young people provided to them.
Cllr Lesley Hill Leiston Town Council says: “I am delighted to hear that Inspire’s Prince’s Trust Team programme are working in Leiston supporting more young people through building their skills and supporting them onto next steps. I am really glad to hear that their community project at Sizewell Hall will be benefitting our community and look forward to seeing it.”
Other aspects of our Prince’s Trust Team programme include an outward-bound activity residential trip, two weeks work experience with local employers and a work skills week where the team members work on their CV’s, mock interviews and local businesses visit the programme to support with this.
