Turn Up & Play Football

Free football sessions for school years 1–13

Love football? Just turn up and play! Our free Ipswich football sessions give children and young people the chance to get active, have fun and enjoy the game with our friendly youth workers and coaches.

You don’t need loads of experience or amazing football skills. Everyone deserves the opportunity to play, and our team will make sure you can join in at your own level.

Session times

Tuesdays, 4pm–5pm: School Years 1–6

Thursdays, 5pm–6pm: School Years 5–7

Fridays, 7pm–8pm: School Years 12–13

What happens at Turn Up & Play?

Each session includes a relaxed mix of skills, drills and games. Our coaches and youth workers might focus on a particular technique, help you practise something new or simply get everyone into teams for a match.

It’s a great way to:

  • Play more football
  • Build skills and confidence
  • Get active and support your physical wellbeing
  • Meet people and enjoy being part of a team
  • Clear your head and have fun

There’s no course to complete and you don’t have to attend every week. Choose the session for your school year, turn up when you want to play and get involved.

Do I need to book?

No. These are free, drop-in football sessions, so there’s no need to book or commit to coming every week.

What should I wear?

Come in comfortable clothes you can move and play football in, with trainers on your feet. You don’t need a full football kit.

Frequently asked questions

  • Do you need to book for Turn Up & Play?

Places no longer need to be pre-booked!

Primary school age sessions – Simply bring your child to the venue a few minutes before the start of the session. There will only be a short form to fill in the first time your child takes part.

Sessions for year 7 and older – When young people arrive for the first time, our youth workers will collect basic details in order to keep them safe during their first visit. They will then be given a letter for their parents or guardians and a link to a consent form. The consent form will then need to be completed by a parent or guardian before they return for their second visit.

  • What sports can I take part in at Turn Up and Play

We offer sessions targeted at specific sports, as well as multi sport sessions. Follow the above links above to find out what is on offer in your local community this term.

  • Can you help me make friends?
