Jed’s Story
Through Inspire’s programmes, Jed found the confidence to overcome anxiety, discover his passion for helping others, and take big steps toward his dream career in psychology.

When Jed first joined Inspire, he was struggling with anxiety and low motivation. Most days were spent at home, feeling stuck and unsure how to move forward. Joining the Inspire Team Programme gave him the chance to start again. To build confidence, meet new people and take the first steps toward a healthier, more positive lifestyle.
At first, things weren’t easy. During Level 1 of the Team Programme, Jed found it hard to open up and couldn’t join the residential due to anxiety. But instead of giving up, he joined Level 2, and that’s when everything began to change. With the support of a new group and the Inspire team, Jed’s confidence grew. He completed the residential trip and took on a fast-paced work experience placement at X Adventures, where he learned teamwork, resilience, and how capable he really was.
After Team Programme, Jed joined the Engage programme, which helped him grow on a deeper, personal level. He gained a better understanding of emotions, his own and others’, and even discovered unexpected leadership skills. The Engage residential pushed him even further, camping with new people and developing teamwork and independence in ways he never thought possible.
Later, one-to-one coaching helped Jed focus on his future, setting clear goals for college and beyond. His top highlights from Inspire include:
• Discovering a passion for becoming a psychiatrist and learning to understand emotions in new ways
• Meeting new people, including his best friend
• Building confidence and motivation through the Team and Engage programmes
Now, Jed is studying Maths at West Suffolk College and preparing for an Access Course in January, with plans to attend university in 2027 to study Psychology and Criminology.
Jed says Inspire helped him transform his life completely: “You’ve got nothing to lose, so give it a try!” He’s thankful for everyone who supported him along the way, and proud of how far he’s come.
