Transport Assistant
This role is for a Transport Assistant Apprentice. The successful candidate will mostly work in an office environment on a shift basis.
They will need to make best use of their effective planning skills, problem-solving, thinking on their feet as well as communication at different levels. Maintaining a positive attitude under pressure is key.
What you will do in your working day
Main duties include:
- Supporting and engaging with different parts of the organisation and interacting with internal or external customers
- Working to increase efficiency by supporting and working across teams and in particular HGV drivers whilst on the road, as well as helping to resolve issues as they arise
- Using IT packages and systems (including Microsoft Office) to write letters, emails, proposals, as well as to record and analyse data. Specialist IT systems are also applicable to this role, such as load boards and freight exchanges
- Updating and reviewing databases, ensuring information is recorded accurately
- Assisting with drafting correspondence, writing reports, and inputting/ reviewing work
- Maintaining records and files, whilst handling confidential information in compliance with organisational procedures and data protection, including maintenance records for vehicles and health records for drivers
- Maintaining positive relationships within the team and across the organisation, promoting collaborative working
- Reviewing processes and providing suggestions for improvements, sharing administrative best practices across the organisation
- Managing work priorities and time to meet booked schedules and to complete tasks effectively while managing expectations
- Taking minutes and action logs as needed
- Assisting with project management, including helping to plan, monitor and report on projects for growth and expansion
The training you will be getting
The apprenticeship will require one day per week attendance at City College Norwich. For the full apprenticeship learners will complete:
- Level 3 Business Administrator qualification
- Level 2 Functional Skills in maths (if not achieved prior).
- Level 2 Functional Skills in English (if not achieved prior),
