Volunteers Week 2018: Meet our volunteers, Pat Lewis

6 June 2018

This week is Volunteers Week, running from the 1st-7th June 2018 and is a time to say thank you for the fantastic contribution volunteers make and let you know how you can support charities like ours. Today, we’re shining the spotlight on one of our volunteers, Pat Lewis.

Pat supported a visit to Carter’s site at the Winerack in Ipswich with our Step Up into Construction students earlier in the year.

Pat Lewis, Chairman of Source One Consulting, is one of our Inspire Business Patrons. At the start of this year, Pat expanded his support of Inspire by regularly volunteering with us and lending his experience to support and advise our young people.

Business Patrons John Howard & Pat Lewis attending our Team programme graduation with a group of young people they have supported on their personal development journey.

He brings a wealth of expertise, energy, and enthusiasm to help support our charity’s development and growth. He also encourages his business contacts to help and inspire the young adults that we regularly work with. Pat’s volunteering ranges from supporting our young people with their CV’s and career choices, to connecting us with local businesses, to advising us on our venue in Ipswich, to helping with our plans for the future of the charity.

We cannot thank Pat enough for his amazing dedication in supporting our charity, which is such a valuable and irreplaceable addition to the work that we do. No-one tells it better than someone who has experience of it themselves, which is why Pat’s advice is so valuable to our young people and our charity.

The descison to become a Business Patron and Volunteer for Inspire was an easy one for me. Having followed the work of Terry and his committed team for many years I’ve seen first hand how Inspire really does change the lives of children and young adults in the community.

With the varied programmes and initiatives on offer Inspire really does help wherever young people wherever rather are in their lives giving them the confidence and opportunities to grow as individuals and to lead fulfilling lives. As a business ‘taking out of the community’ in my eyes should also mean ‘giving something back’ where you can. I’m proud of myself and for my business to be able to help Inspire carry on this important work.

Does this sound like something that you would like to do for Inspire? No matter how much time you can offer, we would love your support. Whether it’s a few hours to support our Careers Week during our programmes for young people or whether you’re interested in volunteering regularly, there’s a volunteering role at Inspire for you.
