This week we visited our Ipswich and Thetford Prince’s Trust Team programmes whilst away on a trip to an activity centre in Norfolk to see how it benefits them as a group and individually.
Our Prince’s Trust Team programme is one of our most successful education programmes taking place over 12 weeks and allowing the young people to gain confidence and skills for their next steps!
In the second week of the programme, our young people spend a week away on a residential trip at an activity centre. This is such an important part of their journey as it encourages the team to try new things, learn how to work with others and a chance to break away from their current situation, whilst realising their own strengths.
Whilst visiting our young people on residential, it was great to see them forming as a team, learning new skills and gaining more confidence. This really helps our young people as it sets them up for the rest of the programme and following on from the course, whether they decide to go into work, training and education depending on what their next step is! They took part in lots of different activities including high rocks, canoeing, climbing wall, archery, team building activities and much more.
Our groups of young people across Suffolk with teams in Ipswich, Thetford, Lowestoft, and Sudbury have just returned from their action-packed trips full of confidence ready for the following weeks ahead.
One Team member said: “Coming away on residential is something completely different to what I would normally do! I don’t usually get out much and don’t have many friends, so coming away has really helped me. At first, I found coming away really hard, but I have been surprised by how much I love doing all of the activities and being outside”
