Our very first Inspire Fast Foward programme have been supporting the ActivLives People Community Garden in Ipswich as part of their course.
Fast Forward is an Inspire course, which launched this year, and is centred on personal progression helping young adults 19+ to get work ready and find employment! Young people taking part in the programme take part in a range of activities to build skills including mock-interview workshops, career planning and skills assessment, teamwork activities, learning about the community, job search skills and submitting applications for active job roles within their area.
This team are our very first Fast Forward group who are hoping to take their next step forward. As part of their community project activity, the team decided to support the ActivLives People Community Garden in Ipswich. Some team members had visited the garden before and knew that they rely solely on their volunteers, so they spent a day weeding, planting and tidying up part of the garden to support the local cause.
This activity is so important as the team have to find, plan and do a project together, building independence, working together as a team and interacting with the community!
